The Brewery Blocks, located at the former site of the Blitz-Weinhard Brewery, is a five-block mixed-use development in Portland’s vibrant post-industrial neighborhood known as the Pearl District. The location of the Brewery Blocks provides a transition between the Central Business District and River District, and is home to creative Class A office space, urban retail and housing. Its design is faithful to the industrial character in the area and consistent with sustainable development concepts. A full scale renovation of Block 2 was completed in 2002. It features the historic Brewhouse and Cellar Building with a newly constructed 10-story Tower on the east side. These buildings are connected via an elevator core and seismic bridge, an integral part of the unique architectural fusion of modern and old. A large central courtyard exposes the iconic 8-story smokestack, creating an outdoor dining area for Henry’s 12th Street Tavern restaurant. Block 2 has achieved LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). In 2007, this building was awarded LEED certification at the Gold level by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Interior office space in the Tower provides options for tenants - both traditional finished ceiling system and open ceiling with exposed ducting in a higher volume space. Large windows serve to increase natural light throughout the space. Parking for Block 2 is provided in Portland’s largest facility, a 3-level subterranean garage with over 1,300 spaces. Secured bicycle parking, along with showers and lockers, are available for tenant use. Public transportation is nearby, with the streetcar immediately adjacent, and light rail and bus service within walking distance. Convenient access to the freeway loop surrounding downtown is only two blocks away.
